Veterans with PTSD and Summertime

Let’s touch base on veterans mental health issues such as PTSD, which if you don’t know stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This can be a reason why summertime is not the best time due to celebratory events that contain fireworks. The loud m, intense noises can actually bring back flashbacks from war zones.

So with this in mind, there are alternative ways to celebrate on the Fourth of July or in Labor Day such as…

1. Party poppers: while they emit a popping noise that is activated by pulling a string, it would still be quieter than fireworks.

2. Confetti: this is a colorful alternative to throw in the air at a pool party or family BBQ in your backyard.

3. Drones: they can provide a fantastic light show without the noise!

4. Glow sticks: they work beautifully at night, come in all colors of the rainbow, and can even be worn around your neck or wrists.

See you still can have fun on these holidays with fitting replacements and be part of the solution to help veterans!
