Recreational activities for senior living can be very healthy for the mind and morale. Making people feel youthful and full of energy! There are many activities that a recreational director or family members can create to help with the entertainment piece.

Now, you can try the following…

Crafts: Crafting can be simplistic or complex. Make usable items to sell or simply give them as gifts. From knitting (or crocheting) to creating beautiful wreaths, there are many options.

Computer Lessons: Enjoy learning how to build a website, code basic HTML, or just have some fun with a few educational programs.

Trivia: Keeping your wits sharp is a must. A challenging game of trivia with friends could be a good way to accomplish just that. You’ll want to spend some time building your thoughts, which is an excellent reason to keep learning, whether it is about books, TV series, etc.

Games: Having fun with a group of people is always a great way to spend time. There are many games that are ideal for seniors including:

-Jigsaw puzzles can allow you to work on them over time
-Board games can help you to have a competitive spirit about you
-Crossword puzzles you can do on your own time
-Card games of all types can be an excellent way for seniors to have fun individually or in a group

So, what game or crafts would you like to do around the holiday times? It can be particularly fun around Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Mardi Gras, and the Fourth of July.
