The upcoming holiday can be fun for older adults, even if they have physical or cognitive limitations. It’s all about spending time together, feeling included, and enjoying the good company.
There are many different activities to engage in such as…
1. Gingerbread houses: baking is a sweet and sugary activity to engage in with family. You can build a house structure and decorate it with hard candies and chocolate chips.
2. Christmas lights ride: you might have a specific venue to go for a light show, but even if you don’t you could drive around your neighborhood and see everyone’s decorations. It’s sure to put a smile on your face!
3. Holiday carols: you could go out door to door singing, but if joints are hurting, then you can sing inside with a holiday karaoke theme such as Silent Night Rudolph, and more…
4. Movies: there are so many funny, classic movies that you can stream at home like The Grinch, Home Alone, Nightmare Before Christmas, and many more…
